Worker Suffers Serious Injuries in Construction Site Accident at University of Malta

A 47-year-old construction worker from Ħaż-Żabbar has suffered serious injuries following an accident at a construction site within the University of Malta grounds in Msida.

Police said they were informed of the incident at around noon, when officers were called to assist at the site.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the worker was injured while operating machinery during the course of his work.

A medical team was dispatched to the scene to provide first aid before the man was taken to hospital by ambulance. He was later certified as having suffered serious injuries.

Magistrate Dr Monica Borg Galea LL.D has been informed of the case and has launched an inquiry.

Police investigations are ongoing, together with those being carried out by the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA), to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
