Wholesome Moment Young Mascot Hugs Prime Minister

The inauguration of the new National Technical Centre in Ta’ Qali was not the only spotlight of yesterday night.

One young football mascot captured attention as she ran up to Prime Minister Robert Abela for a massive hug.

Abela happily engaged the embrace in what was one of the most photographable moments of the evening.

The opening ceremony brought together key figures including FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Prime Minister Robert Abela, Opposition Leader Alex Borg, Education and Sport Minister Clifton Grima, MFA President Bjorn Vassallo, and Italian greats Fabio Cannavaro and Christian Vieri.

The centre has been purpose-built to act as the heart of football development in Malta. Its facilities include a UEFA-compliant stadium, sports science and medical areas, and specialist spaces for youth and elite player training.

It will also serve as a base for the MFA’s technical staff and will host coaching courses, grassroots programmes, and preparations for national teams.
