White-Spotted Octopus Seen In Maltese Waters

Local
A white-spotted octopus, scientifically classified as the Callistoctopus macropus, has been spotted in Maltese waters!
Photographed by Lewis Mark Sell, the image was shared on Facebook by local marine biologist Alan Deidun.
The animal is a “largely, a nocturnal hunter” that “wraps it's tentacles around coral so as to flush out fish and other prey” when hunting for good, explained Alan Deidun.
He described this kind of octopus as “elusive,” meaning we should feel rather lucky for managing to see a picture of it!
