Enjoy the beach days while they last, because summer is officially entering its final stretch.

With the astronomical end of summer arriving on 23 September, we are now just around 20 days away from autumn officially beginning.

While meteorological summer technically ended on 31 August, astronomical summer continues until the autumn equinox later this month.

Of course, anyone living in Malta knows that the weather probably did not get the message.

September can still bring plenty of sunshine, beach days and temperatures that feel very much like the height of summer, meaning the change of season may be more noticeable on the calendar than outdoors.

Still, the countdown has officially begun.

The long evenings are gradually getting shorter, summer events are drawing to a close and before we know it, we'll be talking about hoodies, rain and whether it is finally cool enough to switch off the air conditioning.

So yes... summer is almost over.
