Watch: Henry Galea's Christmas Tree In The Making

The capital city’s much-anticipated Christmas tree has finally begun to take shape, and this year’s spectacular centrepiece arrives with a nostalgic twist. Named ‘The Munita Christmas Tree’, the installation draws inspiration from the old Maltese Lira, celebrating Malta’s former currency with a vibrant artistic tribute in the heart of Valletta.
Renowned make-up artist and influencer Henry Galea was chosen to design this year’s Christmas tree, working alongside creative collaborators Jason Zerafa and Ryan Pillow to bring the concept to life. Adding another layer of uniqueness, this year’s tree is also scented, creating a multi sensory festive experience for visitors.
On site this morning, Henry experienced an emotional moment as he watched the structure being assembled, sharing how proud he felt seeing the idea take form. He revealed that passers-by have already shown overwhelming enthusiasm and positivity, even though the tree is only 70% completed. “We’ve been working tirelessly all night,” he told Malta Daily, grateful for the early reactions.
Speaking exclusively to Malta Daily, Henry expressed one heartfelt wish: that the public appreciates and respects this piece of art, recognising the cultural significance and dedication behind it.
This year’s edition of Valletta’s festive programme will officially begin on November 25 at 6pm, with the ceremonial lighting of the Christmas lights and the unveiling of The Munita Christmas Tree. With its nostalgic theme, artistic detail and even a festive scent, the capital’s centrepiece is already shaping up to be one of Malta’s most memorable holiday attractions.
