Warrants Presented To 22 New Notaries

Minister for Justice, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima has presented warrants to 22 new notaries after they successfully demonstrated their competence to practise the profession.
Addressing the new warrant holders, Minister Grima described the occasion as an important milestone following years of dedication, study and sacrifice.
He said the notarial profession has grown in both importance and responsibility, requiring strong academic, legal and fiscal knowledge to meet the demands of modern practice.
The Minister also highlighted the role of technology in transforming the profession, encouraging the new notaries to embrace innovation and remain up to date with legislative developments and digital systems.
He said this would enable them to provide a more efficient and effective service to the public.
Grima also referred to the ongoing collaboration between the Government and the Notarial Council, aimed at strengthening the profession through infrastructure improvements and legislative reforms.
Government Notary Keith German noted that, following the admission of the 22 new warrant holders, Malta now has 399 practising notaries, including 257 women and 142 men. He added that around 1,322 notaries have practised in Malta since 1465.
Notarial Council President Graziella Agius Farrugia reminded the new notaries of the importance of always acting within the limits established by law, regardless of any requests made by clients.
The ceremony was also attended by the Ministry's Permanent Secretary Johan Galea and representatives of the Notarial Council.
