Warning Issued Today For Winds Reaching Up To Force 8
Local

A strong wind warning has been issued for the coming days as northwesterly winds are expected to intensify across the Maltese Islands.

According to local Weather group ‘It-Temp Madwarna,’ the West-Northwest (WNW) wind will strengthen throughout Thursday 26th March, reaching its peak overnight into the early hours of Friday 27th March.

During this period, winds are expected to reach Force 7, with gusts possibly hitting Force 8.

Conditions are set to ease slightly by Friday evening, with winds dropping to around Force 5. However, a moderate increase is expected again on Saturday 28th March, with northwesterly (NW) winds reaching up to Force 6.

The public is urged to avoid exposed coastal areas, particularly those facing the northwest. People are also advised not to park vehicles under large trees and to secure any loose outdoor objects.

Sea transport services, including fast ferries and catamarans, may be temporarily suspended due to rough conditions. The warning remains in effect from Thursday afternoon through Saturday evening.
