VOLUNTEERS COME TOGETHER TO HELP DUCKS AT MARSALFORN VALLEY

A group of volunteers has come together to improve conditions for ducks living in Marsalforn Valley in Gozo, with Maltese triathlete Fabio Spiteri teaming up with Emmanuel from Ghajnsielem & Gozo Cats and other animal lovers.

During the clean-up, volunteers removed dead ducks, cleaned the valley and provided care for a dehydrated duck, which was taken home by one of the volunteers.

The team also installed two 1,000-litre water tanks filled with fresh water, set up temporary shelter to provide shade during the summer months and installed a dry food storage container, which was filled with food.

Drainage areas were also barricaded with sticks and branches to discourage the ducks from getting too close to the drains.

Spiteri said volunteers will take turns providing the ducks with food and water throughout the summer, while funds have also been allocated to ensure they have enough food.

The initiative was made possible through donations and the efforts of volunteers, who came together to provide the ducks with a cleaner and safer environment.

Spiteri thanked everyone who contributed and said he will now return to his fundraising efforts to support animal shelters across Malta and Gozo.
