Victoria2031 Team Celebrates European Capital Of Culture Recommendation

The team behind Victoria2031Gozo has welcomed the independent selection board’s recommendation for Victoria to be designated European Capital of Culture for 2031 in Malta.

The recommendation follows more than a year of research, discussions, collaboration and preparation by the team behind the candidature, which presented its vision to the jury today.

In a statement, the Victoria2031Gozo team said the presentation provided an opportunity to showcase the “work, ideas and ambition” that had shaped the candidature over the past year.

“We are proud of what we presented. Proud of the people who brought us this far, the work that has been done and the vision for Victoria that we had the opportunity to share,” the team said.

The team also thanked everyone who contributed to the process and supported the bid, describing the recommendation as a significant moment in the journey towards 2031.

“From all of us, thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey,” the statement concluded.

Victoria is set to become Malta’s European Capital of Culture for 2031, placing Gozo at the centre of a major European cultural programme.
