Malta is set to host a temporary immersive experience in Valletta, offering the public a unique opportunity to explore the country’s long-term plans for the future. The installation, part of the Malta Vision 2050 campaign, will be free to enter and is being built near the Triton Fountain at the entrance to the city.

Malta Vision 2050 is a national strategy that outlines how the country aims to develop over the next 25 years, focusing on sustainability, quality of life, education, innovation, infrastructure, and economic growth. The immersive experience is designed to help visitors understand this vision through art, visuals, and modern technology, showing what Malta could look like by 2050.

The project was confirmed in Parliament after a question by MP Julie Zahra to Prime Minister Robert Abela. The Prime Minister explained that the structure will allow visitors of all ages to engage in an artistic and interactive journey, bringing Malta Vision 2050 to life. While considered an artistic installation under planning law, the project received clearances from the Malta Council for the Arts and Transport Malta.

The installation uses reflective materials to blend with its surroundings, while inside, visuals and storytelling guide visitors through Malta’s future plans. Similar immersive experiences have been held in locations such as Tottenham Court Road in London, giving the public an engaging and innovative way to explore ideas.

The experience is expected to attract both locals and tourists, offering a fresh perspective on Malta’s vision for the coming decades.
