Valletta has been named the third best place in Europe to spend New Year’s Eve, ranking ahead of London according to UK based platform Enjoy Travel.

As Enjoy Travel highlights, the capital offers “nice and mild” December weather and is perfect for those who want to “combine good weather with scintillating firework displays”. Traveller sentiment and social media interest also contributed to Valletta’s strong placement.

This recognition aligns with the launch of what is set to be Valletta’s most ambitious New Year’s Eve celebration yet.

Organised by the Valletta Cultural Agency and G7 Events, the event will be hosted by Jamie Cardona, Taryn Mamo Cefai and Ron Briffa.

Glen Vella and his band will open the night before the Palace String Orchestra performs with a lineup of popular local artists including Aidan Drakard, Denise, Gaia, Karin Duff, Keith Zammit Mintoff and Klinsmann.

DJs Denzel Jo Armani and Wayne will take over later in the evening with high energy sets.

An immersive audiovisual countdown will lead crowds into 2026, accompanied by the largest firework display Malta has ever staged in the Grand Harbour, created through a collaboration between 16 firework factories.

International artist John Newman, known for “Love Me Again” and for his collaborations with Calvin Harris, will headline at midnight.

DJ Gabii will close the programme with a final set, rounding off a night designed to match Valletta’s growing reputation as one of Europe’s top New Year’s Eve destinations.
