Valletta Carnival Celebrations Tonight Cancelled Due To Strong Winds

Festivals Malta has announced that tonight’s Grand Defilé in St Anne Street, Floriana, as well as the scheduled programme in St George’s Square, have been cancelled following consultations with civil authorities due to the current weather situation.

The decision was taken in light of strong winds affecting the area, with organisers prioritising the safety of participants, crew members, and the public.

The cancellations affect what was set to take place later this evening, marking an unexpected change to the final day of this year’s carnival celebrations.

Despite the cancellation of the performances and parade, the carnival floats will remain parked in St James Ditch until approximately 9:30pm.

According to organisers, the floats are expected to begin making their way back to their respective warehouses once wind conditions subside later tonight.

Festivals Malta thanked the public for their cooperation and understanding as authorities continue to monitor the weather situation on what was meant to be a grand finale to the festivities.
