URGENT APPEAL FOR A POSITIVE BLOOD DONORS AT BLOOD DONATION MALTA

Blood Donation Malta – NBTS has issued an urgent appeal for donors with A Positive blood, citing a critical need for oncology patients, thalassaemia patients, and individuals undergoing operations. The donation centre is open today until 8:00 PM, and donors are reminded to bring their ID card. Free transport is available by calling 2206 6201.

Many people avoid donating blood due to common misconceptions, believing the process is painful, dangerous, or time-consuming. In reality, blood donation is a safe and quick procedure, typically taking less than an hour, with the actual donation lasting around 10 minutes.

One donation can save up to three lives, as the blood can be separated into red cells, plasma, and platelets to help different patients. Blood supplies are entirely dependent on voluntary donors and can run low quickly, particularly for specific blood groups such as A Positive.

By donating blood a few times a year, individuals can significantly impact the lives of patients in need. Blood Donation Malta urges eligible donors to come forward and help maintain life-saving blood supplies in the community.
