Up To 18 Bat Rescue Calls Due To Strong Winds These Past 2 Months

Nature Trust Wildlife Rescue Team Malta explained that due to the prolonged strong winds these past 2 months, the total calls for bat rescues jumped from around 2 to 6 calls to 18 this year.
‘Most of them had severe internal injuries or fractured bones due to hits against buildings. But we did manage to save a few, and this week we had a break from the wind and could release them back’, explained the rescue team.
‘All the animals we rescue are protected species and it is illegal in Malta to keep them as pets.’
‘Our volunteers have wildlife handling permits and training as well as equipment in order to rescue these creatures. If you spot any of the wild animals that we rescue injured or in danger, please call the Wildlife Rescue Team on 99999505.’
