Uber Faces Licence Suspension As New Y-Plate Regulations Take Effect In Malta

Transport Malta has suspended Uber’s license after a new set of regulations for the Y-plate sector came into play.
On a post to their social media, Transport Malta explained that after a period of monitoring and verification, they established that Uber does not meet certain regulatory and legal obligations.
Due to this, the cab company is facing a suspended license as immediate legal action is taken against them, “to ensure the compliance with the law and regulations to their entirety,” stated the company.
This comes after Minister Chris Bonnet explained that from now on Y-plate drivers will not be allowed to exceed 12 hours each shift, in order to prevent more road traffic accidents by decreasing tired drivers behind the wheel.
