Two Young Bats Found Grounded, Rescued & Fed By Wildlife Team

Two juvenile bats were found grounded in Għajnsielem and Victoria respectively, possibly due to the extreme heat that is known to impact such fauna during the summer.

The bats were fed a serving of delicious worms (well, at least by their standards) so that they can get stronger and take to the nighttime skies again.

‘Bats are fascinating and incredibly important members of Malta’s wildlife, helping to keep insect populations under control every single night. While these little ones are safe in our care for now, every meal brings them one step closer to returning to the wild’, explained Nature Trust Malta.

The team also reminded the public that there is no known local transmission of rabies in Malta, so no need to fear these creatures.

It is however illegal to keep them as pets, so if you encounter any bat or wildlife that needs assistance, please call the Wildlife Rescue Team Malta on 99999505.
