Civil Protection responds to vehicle fires in St Lucia and Mellieħa

The Civil Protection Malta responded to two separate vehicle fire incidents yesterday evening in St Lucia and Mellieħa involving internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles.

In the first incident in St Lucia, firefighters from Station 4 were dispatched following a road traffic collision that resulted in a vehicle catching fire. The driver sustained injuries and was taken to hospital for further medical treatment.

Emergency crews managed to bring the fire under control and fully extinguish it, ensuring the area was made safe for those involved.

In a separate incident in Mellieħa, firefighters from Station 3 were called to another vehicle fire involving an ICE vehicle. The blaze was swiftly contained and extinguished by emergency responders, with no injuries reported.

The Civil Protection Malta expressed its appreciation for the assistance of the Malta Police Force, Transport Malta, and the Mater Dei Hospital Emergency Department, which all supported operations on scene.

Investigations into the incidents are ongoing.
