Two Third-Country Nationals Returned to Countries of Origin

The Malta Police Force has successfully carried out two return operations this week, resulting in the repatriation of two third-country nationals to their respective countries of origin in North Africa.

One of the individuals had previously served a prison sentence after being found guilty in connection with an attempted murder involving a man at the Ħal Far Open Centre in 2016.

The second individual was convicted of using a falsified passport. Following the completion of all the necessary legal and administrative procedures, he was also returned to his country of origin.

In both cases, entry bans were issued, preventing the individuals from re-entering the Schengen Area.

With these two operations, the total number of people deported from Malta so far this year has risen to 19.

The Malta Police Force said the operations underline Malta’s approach to dealing with individuals who breach the country’s laws.

“The message is clear: Malta welcomes those who respect its laws, but it will not tolerate illegality, criminality or abuse of the system.”
