Two Prisoners Being Investigated After Mobile Phones Found In Cells

Two people currently serving prison sentences are being investigated by the Police after mobile phones were found inside their cells during an investigative operation.
Home Affairs Minister Glenn Bedingfield said in a social media post that the investigation began in recent days following information received by the Police.
Searches carried out inside the prisoners’ cells led to the discovery of two mobile phones. Another phone was also found inside the cell of a different prisoner.
Bedingfield said the investigation involved coordination between several entities and was led by the Police. He added that the individuals involved are expected to be questioned in the coming hours.
The Minister said that authorities would not treat anyone differently and stressed that everyone is equal before the law.
“I have already said that we will not look at anyone’s face differently,” Bedingfield wrote, adding that while he would have preferred to announce the names of those involved, he had to respect the ongoing Police investigation.
