Two New Vessels For Gozo Channel As Of 2029

It has been announced that the Gozo Channel will see two new vessels joining and starting operations as of 2029.
Ministers Clint Camilleri, Chris Bonett and Silvio Schembri made the announcement, saying that this will go into expanding the service to more Maltese and Gozitans.
A vessel with the carrying capacity of 250 vehicles will be bought to keep up with the demands of peak periods.
Another smaller vessel will be bought that can carry 75 vehicles which can make the service more flexible. Both are expected to start operations as of 2029.
In the meantime, a retrofitting of the three vessels Ta’ Pinu, Gaudos and Malita will be taking place. A call will also be issued for a rented vessel to possibly replace the MV Nikolaos so that the service remains stable and affordable.
The MV Nikolaos or the vessel that will be rented will be used as a mercantile vessel to improve the logistics between the two islands.
