Two men suffered injuries following a series of traffic collisions on Coast Road in Naxxar on Sunday morning.

Police were called to the scene at around 7.15am after a Subaru Impreza, driven by a 41-year-old man from Ħal Għaxaq, crashed into a wall and came to a stop in the middle of the carriageway.

As a result, several vehicles were forced to stop because they could not pass. A 36-year-old man riding a Suzuki motorcycle attempted to avoid the stationary traffic but lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the roadside barriers, sustaining injuries.

At the same location and around the same time, a chain collision involving five vehicles also took place.

The vehicles involved were an Isuzu van, a Mazda 2, a Toyota Passo, a Toyota Vitz and a Porsche. The driver of the Toyota Vitz, a 29-year-old man from St Paul’s Bay, was also injured.

A medical team provided assistance at the scene before both injured men were taken to hospital by ambulance. They were later certified as suffering from grievous injuries. The driver of the Subaru was unhurt.

Police investigations are ongoing.
