Two Little Hedgehogs Too Small To Survive Alone Rescued In Gozo

Meet Pickle and Ayo, two tiny hoglets recently rescued in Gozo.

Pickle was found in Marslaforn, weighing just 60g. Quite weak when rescued, this little one reminded tightly curled up. However, after some warmth and gentle care, we eventually got a glimpse of the adorable little face.

Ayo, meanwhile, was rescued in Munxar, weighing just 121g.

Despite a bit bigger than Pickle, Ayo too was still very small and vulnerable. These hoglets are far too small to survive in the wild on their own at this age. Both hoglets are now safely in the hands of our wildlife rescue volunteers, receiving the care and attention these tiny newcomers deserve, explained Nature Trust.

All of the animals rescued are protected species and it is illegal to harm the or keep them as pets. Volunteers have special handling permits as well as training and equipment to rescue them.
