TWO ARRESTS MADE IN ALLEGED INTERNATIONAL DRUG TRAFFICKING CASE

Over the past two days, the Maltese Police have successfully carried out two arrests linked to the alleged importation and trafficking of drugs, involving individuals operating within an international criminal network.
In the first operation, a 54-year-old Dutch national arriving in Malta on a flight from Brussels on Tuesday was apprehended. Authorities discovered approximately one kilogram of suspected cocaine concealed in his clothing, with an estimated street value exceeding €130,000.
Extensive investigations indicated that the seized drugs were intended for delivery to a principal suspect allegedly managing the trafficking operation in Malta. Following surveillance, the Police arrested a 43-year-old Moroccan man in Ħal M’sida yesterday afternoon.
Searches conducted at the Moroccan suspect’s residence resulted in the seizure of over €45,000 in cash, a Maserati vehicle, as well as luxury watches, jewellery, clothing, shoes, and designer bags.
A magisterial inquiry has been opened under the direction of Magistrate Dr Philip Galea Farrugia LL.D. The two men are currently being held in custody and are expected to appear in court today at approximately 11:30am before Magistrate Dr Antoine Agius Bonnici LL.D.
They will face charges including importation, possession, and trafficking of drugs, money laundering, and involvement in organised crime.
