Tributes Pour In For Late Renowned Actress Marylu Coppini

Tributes are pouring in for one of Malta’s most prolific and versatile stage performers, actress Marylu Coppini, who died on Christmas Eve aged 76.
Coppini’s career encompassed theatre, film and television, earning her widespread admiration for both her talent and dedication.
She performed extensively on stage and screen before moving into directing in the late 1980s, later serving for several years as artistic director of MADC.
Her stage work included leading roles in plays by Shakespeare and Oscar Wilde, as well as performances in productions such as Glorious and Tartuffe.
Her final stage appearance came in 2020 when she portrayed Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest.
Her acting journey began in 1962 with the children’s film Treasure in Malta, released the following year.
Her most recent screen appearance was in the film Żafżifa, released earlier this year.
Coppini was also a familiar face on television, appearing in series including Santa Monica, Villa Sunset and L-Erba L’Huma, for which she won a Malta Television Award in 2006.
She received the MADC Best Actress award twice and went on to direct numerous productions.
