Tonight, Aidan Becomes One Of Only Three Maltese Acts To Reach Eurovision Final In The Last Decade

Tonight, AIDAN will represent Malta in the Eurovision 2026 grand final in Vienna, Austria with his song Bella, becoming one of only three Maltese acts to reach the Eurovision final in the last decade.
Malta’s recent Eurovision journey has been a mixed one, with the country struggling to consistently qualify for the grand final despite several entries gaining strong support locally and internationally.
Over the past ten years, Malta has only reached the final with Destiny in 2021, Miriana Conte in 2025 and now AIDAN in 2026.
AIDAN will perform 10th during tonight’s final at Vienna’s Wiener Stadthalle, with Austria hosting this year’s contest after JJ won Eurovision 2025 with the song Wasted Love.
Malta came closest to winning Eurovision in recent years with Destiny and her song Je Me Casse in 2021. At one point Malta was considered one of the favourites to win the contest, before eventually finishing in 7th place.
However, Malta’s best Eurovision results overall still remain the two second-place finishes achieved by Ira Losco with 7th Wonder in 2002 and Chiara with Angel in 2005.
In more recent years, Malta failed to qualify for the final with entries such as The Busker’s Dance (Our Own Party) in 2023 and Sarah Bonnici’s Loop in 2024.
Miriana Conte then managed to return Malta to the final in 2025 with Serving.
AIDAN’s qualification this year has generated major excitement among Maltese Eurovision fans, especially as Bella marks the return of the Maltese language to the Eurovision stage after many years.
Malta is also currently being tipped by several Eurovision fan pages and bookmakers as a possible surprise top-10 contender tonight.
