Tiny Bat Released Into Wild After Being Rescued From Shaft

Tiny bat pup Bruce has officially returned to the wild.
In late June, the tiny bat was found in Qala, Gozo after falling from his mother and ending up at the bottom of a building shaft.
‘At the time, we hoped there might still be a chance to reunite him with his mum’, explained Nature Trust Malta.
‘Two attempts were made to bring the two back together, but unfortunately she didn’t return. So Bruce remained in our care, where he was given everything he needed to grow stronger and prepare for life back in the wild.’
And now, after seven weeks, the moment has finally come to set him free again.
‘He treated us to one little victory lap, briefly returned for one last appearance, and then disappeared into the evening sky.’
All of the animals that Nature Trust rescue are protected species and it is illegal in Malta to harm them or keep them as pets.
‘Our volunteers have wildlife handling permits and training as well as equipment in order to rescue these creatures. If you spot any of the wild animals that we rescue injured or in danger, please call the Wildlife Rescue Team Malta on 99999505.’
