Three people were safely rescued today afternoon after becoming stranded at Ta' Marija Cave in Għnejna following a trekking expedition.

The Civil Protection Department (CPD) said it was alerted to the incident and immediately launched a coordinated rescue operation together with the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM).

Rescue teams from Fire Stations 3, 5, 7 and 8 were dispatched to the area, where they successfully located all three individuals.

Following the operation, the stranded trekkers were safely brought back to land without further incident.

The CPD praised the swift response and close coordination between all agencies involved, highlighting the professionalism and commitment of the emergency responders throughout the rescue.

In a statement, the department thanked the Armed Forces of Malta and all personnel who participated in the operation, whose joint efforts ensured the safe recovery of the three individuals from the remote coastal location.
