Local

Malta is heading into an intense three-day stretch of heat, with temperatures set to remain exceptionally high from Sunday through Tuesday.

According to the official Malta Met Office forecast, Sunday 30th August will reach a high of 41°C, feeling like 42°C, while Monday is expected to reach 40°C, again feeling like 42°C.

Tuesday will bring some relief on paper, with a maximum of 33°C, although the temperature is still expected to feel like 39°C.

The Malta Met Office has also issued a weather warning, stating that maximum temperatures are expected to reach 40°C or 41°C today and tomorrow, 31st August.

The warning is currently at red level, before temperatures are expected to drop to around 33°C between 1st and 3rd September, when the warning moves to yellow.

All three days are forecast to remain hot and sunny, with a UV index of 8.

So if the past few days already felt unbearable, Malta still has a little more heat to get through before temperatures begin to ease.
