The Lifestar Malta Marathon is underway, with fresh images capturing participants warming up and making their final preparations before setting off on the 42KM and 21KM routes.

Excitement filled the air in Rabat as runners stretched, jogged lightly and gathered at the starting line ahead of the race, which will see participants finish in Sliema later today. The marathon is expected to continue until around 3pm.

Alongside the main marathon distances, the event also features the 21K Walkathon and the Charity 5K run, drawing a wide range of participants in support of various causes.

Authorities have reiterated their appeal for drivers to avoid several areas during the indicated times due to road closures:

Rabat/Mtarfa – 6:00am to 8:30am

Mosta/Ta’ Qali – 7:00am to 10:00am

Ħ’Attard/L-Imrieħel bypass/Marsa – 8:15am to 11:30am

Ħal Qormi/Ħamrun Bypass – 8:30am to 11:30am

Marsa/Valletta – 8:30am to 11:30am

Pieta seafront/Msida seafront – 8:30am to 11:45am

Ta’ Xbiex/Gżira seafront – 6:45am to 12:00pm

Tigné seafront – 4:00am to 3:00pm
