Thousands Flock To Tarxien For Annual Passion Pageant

Thousands made their way to Ħal Tarxien last night, March 28th, for the annual Passion pageant, reenacting the passion of Christ ahead of Easter.
With participants clad in Roman armour marching through the locality’s streets leading cross-bearers, the pageant is an annual theatrical display of a core Christian story and a moment for deep spiritual reflection for many in Malta.
The crucifixion and the resurrection are also portrayed as part of the pageant, anticipating the upcoming Easter celebrations around the islands.
The Malta Police Band, the Beland band and Għaqda Mużikali Marija Annunzjata AD 1862 all took part in the pageant.
