Thousands Attend Festa Ikel Malti 2025 At Pitkalija, Ta’ Qali

The latest edition of Festa Ikel Malti, organised by the Malta Food Agency, was successfully held on Sunday, 12 October at Pitkalija, Ta’ Qali. This annual festival, taking place just days before World Food Day on 16 October, was dedicated to celebrating sustainability, local produce, and Maltese identity through food.
Throughout the day, families enjoyed a unique experience combining gastronomy, music, heritage, and local creativity. The festival featured sales and exhibitions of agricultural products, educational and interactive activities for children, and live demonstrations highlighting the importance of fresh food and sustainability throughout the food chain.
Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights, Anton Refalo, expressed his appreciation to the Malta Food Agency and praised the large public turnout. He highlighted that the event demonstrated the strong connection between the community and those working to bring Maltese produce to our tables.

“This festival continues to remind us that food is a central part of our identity as Maltese and Gozitans. Through these initiatives, we celebrate our traditions while promoting the values of sustainability and recognising the dedication of our farmers, herders, and fishers, who provide fresh, high-quality food,” Minister Refalo said.
Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights, Alicia Bugeja Said, emphasised that “Festa Ikel Malti highlights our country’s culinary heritage, promoting local and high-quality products thanks to the passion and dedication of our farmers, herders, fishers, and producers. I would like to thank the Malta Food Agency for successfully organising this event.”

Brian Vella, CEO of the Malta Food Agency, expressed his gratitude to the thousands who attended Festa Ikel Malti and to the more than 40 producers who showcased the quality and versatility of Maltese products. He noted, “This festival was not just a celebration of our produce, but also of those who make it possible – the farmers, fishers, herders, and producers whose work and dedication strengthen Malta’s food sector. It was an occasion to honour the men and women who grow, harvest, and create authentic products that represent the very best of Malta.”
