Robert Abela praised the Labour government’s record in Gozo and Malta’s economic performance during a political address in Xewkija, where he argued that the country remains stable and successful despite ongoing international challenges.

Abela stated that Gozo has experienced significant advancements since the Labour Party was elected to government, while also criticising Alex Borg over what he described as a lack of understanding of statistics and economic figures.

Referring to recent European Commission assessments, Abela said Malta currently has the strongest economy in the European Union, describing it as “another certificate of competence” that demonstrates how the country is benefitting under Labour leadership.

The Prime Minister stressed that Malta has managed to remain stable amid geopolitical conflicts affecting larger nations, attributing this resilience to the country’s strong economy and government decisions aimed at protecting citizens.

“Only this team can give a clear guarantee to the Maltese and Gozitan population that the country will remain a success,” Abela stated.

He added that Labour’s “Int Malta” vision prioritises improving connectivity between Malta and Gozo by 25%, while criticising PN’s proposals and claiming their plan had been created using artificial intelligence.

Abela also announced plans for the development of a sports village in Gozo, saying the government wants “the very best for Gozitans.”

Concluding his speech, he urged supporters to collect their voting documents ahead of the election.

“Go pick up your vote,” Abela said. “Those who don’t pick up their vote still made a choice.”
