This Year’s Budget To Be Held On Monday 26th October

Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced that Budget 2027 will be presented on Monday, 26th October, revealing the date during a Labour Party political activity on Sunday morning.

The upcoming Budget will be the first of Labour’s fourth consecutive term in government, following its historic general election victory earlier this year.

Malta went to the polls on 30th May 2026, with Labour securing 158,444 first-preference votes, or 51.77%, compared to the Nationalist Party’s 136,723 votes, or 44.68% — a difference of 21,721 votes.

Preparations for Budget 2027 are already underway, with the Government holding a series of consultation meetings with stakeholders and social partners.

In recent days, Abela has met representatives from organisations including the Malta Chamber of SMEs, the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association and MUMN, with discussions covering business, tourism, healthcare and other priorities ahead of October’s Budget.

The Opposition has similarly been engaging with chambers, businesses and other stakeholders as discussions continue over Malta’s economic and social priorities for the coming year.
