Things To Expect This Sunday As Malta Awaits The Election Result
Local

This Sunday, Malta will once again enter full election mode as the country waits to find out who will come out on top once the votes are counted.

And if there’s one thing Malta knows how to do, it’s election day drama.

From early morning, TV stations, social media pages and family WhatsApp groups will already be in overdrive. Political analysts will start dissecting every tiny update, while supporters from both sides begin convincing everyone that victory is “definitely happening.”

As counting progresses, expect:

  • endless district calculations nobody fully understands
  • social media flooded with party flags and horn sounds
  • random rumours spreading every 15 minutes
  • people refreshing news pages every 30 seconds
  • and at least one uncle claiming he “already knew the result weeks ago”

If the gap starts becoming clearer, celebrations could quickly begin taking over the streets, with cars, music, flags and convoys becoming impossible to avoid across parts of Malta and Gozo.

Meanwhile, candidates will be anxiously waiting to see whether they personally made it through, with nail-biting races expected in several districts.

And of course, no Maltese election Sunday would be complete without:

  • debates over survey accuracy
  • people analysing body language on TV
  • and thousands suddenly becoming political experts overnight

Whether you’re heavily invested or just watching for the chaos, one thing is certain: Sunday is going to be loud, dramatic and very, very Maltese.
