The Top 40 Restaurants In Malta According To The Definitive(ly) Good Guide Awards

The Definitive(ly) Good Guide Awards have once again highlighted the best dining experiences across Malta and Gozo, following this year’s ceremony held at the Grand Hotel Excelsior on 8 December.
The results are based entirely on feedback from diners who took part in the annual survey, which gathered responses from 3703 participants and reflected more than 288,000 dining experiences.
Only 150 restaurants earn a place in the guide each year so making the Top 40 is considered a major achievement.
Leading the list is de Mondion, which claimed the title of Top Overall Restaurant for 2026. In second place is Sole by Tarragon, followed by Ion Harbour in third.
Venus and Muża complete the top five, demonstrating the strength and diversity of the local culinary scene. The top ten is rounded off by Trattoria da Manuele, OyOy, Opa!, Minoa and Galea’s Kitchen, all of which impressed diners with consistent quality and distinctive cuisine.
These rankings reflect not only food and service but also overall customer satisfaction, with ratings and comments analysed to produce the final ranking.
The awards ceremony, supported by the Malta Tourism Authority, Global Payments and the Malta Food Agency, celebrated these achievements with commemorative plates presented to each of the top 40 restaurants.
With 45 new entries included in the 2026 guide, the awards continue to set a benchmark for excellence in Maltese dining.
