The People You’ll Meet at the Beach During Santa Marija Week

Santa Marija week means one thing: summer is in full swing, the beaches are packed, and suddenly everyone has developed a very specific beach personality.

First up is The Sun Worshipper. They arrive early, claim the perfect spot and spend hours slowly roasting under the August sun. Sunscreen? Hopefully.

Then there’s The Serious Swimmer, already halfway to the horizon while the rest of us are still testing the water with one toe.

Nearby, The Snack Supplier opens a cooler that could feed a small village. Pastizzi, sandwiches, fruit, crisps, cold drinks... you briefly consider becoming their best friend.

Of course, Santa Marija week also brings The Overprepared Family. Umbrellas, chairs, floaties, buckets, spades, coolers and enough equipment for a three-day expedition. Setting up camp is practically a military operation.

Then you have The Beach Sports Crew, whose football or frisbee will inevitably land dangerously close to someone’s face.

The Photographer is busy capturing the perfect summer shot, while The Napper has somehow fallen asleep despite the music, shouting children and general Santa Marija chaos.

And finally, The Human Lobster. At 10am they confidently say, “I never burn.” By late afternoon, they are glowing red and reconsidering every decision they made that day.

That’s the beauty of the beach during Santa Marija week. Everyone has their own way of enjoying it, and somehow, all the chaos is part of the fun.
