The Must-See Boċċi The Musical Returns Thursday 18th June
Local

Following its successful debut, Boċċi The Musical is returning to the stage after earning praise from audiences and critics alike.

The production quickly established itself as one of the standout local theatre productions of the year, thanks to its blend of humour, heart and distinctly Maltese themes.

A collaboration between Teatru Malta and Give or Take Productions, with the support of Festivals Malta, the musical tells the story of a struggling boċċi club and the colourful characters determined to keep it alive.

At the centre of the story is Osmar, known as “il-Kanadiż”, the club’s star player, alongside Jes, whose life revolves around the game until an unexpected injury changes everything.

As participation declines and development threatens the future of the club, hope arrives in the form of Martha, an architect determined to save it. Her arrival sparks questions and challenges long-held assumptions within the community.

Featuring a script and lyrics by Malcolm Galea, who co-directs the production with Philip Leone-Ganado, the musical is brought to life through an original score by Matthew James Borg.

The cast includes Philip Vella, Joseph Zammit, Charlotte Formosa, Adam Ryan, Michela Farrugia, Sandie von Brockdorff and Jacob Piccinino.

Combining memorable music, sharp comedy and a celebration of Maltese identity, Boċċi The Musical offers an entertaining and heartfelt look at community spirit, tradition and belonging.

Audiences can even enjoy the performance with a beer in hand, staying true to the atmosphere of the beloved local club at the heart of the story.
