The Malta Sustainable Development Action Awards 2026 Have Officially Launched

The Ministry for Energy, the Environment and the Regeneration of the Grand Harbour has officially launched the Malta Sustainable Development Action Awards 2026, recognising the people and organisations driving meaningful progress towards a more sustainable future.

The awards celebrate projects and initiatives that deliver tangible economic, social and environmental benefits while supporting Malta's Sustainable Development Strategy.

Open to individuals, voluntary organisations, businesses, academic teams, schools, journalists, public sector entities and local councils, the awards aim to showcase innovative ideas and practical solutions that are making a lasting difference across the Maltese Islands.

Applicants are invited to submit one eligible project or initiative that began implementation in 2024 or later and demonstrates measurable positive impact.

Applications must be submitted through the official online application form and supported by evidence that clearly demonstrates the project's achievements.

Eligible projects may have received national or European funding, provided all relevant details are disclosed during the application process.

Following an initial technical assessment, the three highest scoring entries in each category will be shortlisted before progressing to a public vote.

The awards span eight distinct categories, reflecting the broad range of contributions needed to advance sustainable development in Malta.

Several category winners will receive €2,000 to further strengthen and expand their initiatives, alongside a commemorative trophy, while runners up will receive recognition for their achievements.

Applications close on Friday 14 August 2026 at 12.00 noon, and the Ministry is encouraging all eligible stakeholders to seize the opportunity to gain national recognition for their commitment to sustainability.
