“The Dreams Of Our Athletes Are Also Our Project,” Says Robert Abela

Prime Minister and Labour Party leader Robert Abela said sport is evolving into a new economic driver for Malta, backed by major investment in infrastructure and the growing success of Maltese and Gozitan athletes.
Addressing an event attended by athletes, coaches and officials from various sports associations, Abela highlighted how recent improvements in sporting facilities are placing Malta more prominently on the international sporting map.
He said Malta is increasingly capable of hosting world-class competitions, which not only generate economic benefits but also positively impact local athletes and sporting disciplines.
Among the projects mentioned were the Cottonera Sports Complex, the Pembroke Tennis Centre, the Ta’ Kandja shooting range, the Rabat Gozo Aquatic and Sports Centre, the Marsa Sports Complex and support provided to the MFA for the National Football Centre.
Abela also outlined new proposals aimed at supporting elite athletes, sports administrators and national teams, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to expanding sports infrastructure across the country.
