The second season of the English television series The Assassin is currently being filmed in Malta, with principal photography taking place between 16 February and 5 June 2026.

The production consists of six 60-minute episodes and is directed by Terry McDonough. Filming is underway across a number of locations, including Valletta, Floriana, Rabat, Attard, Mellieħa, Marsaskala, and Siġġiewi, showcasing Malta’s versatility as a destination for international productions.

The series is benefiting from the 40% cash rebate incentive offered by the Malta Film Commission, a scheme aimed at attracting foreign productions to the island.

With a local budget of €17.1 million, the production is employing a total of 141 crew members, 120 of whom are Maltese. This is expected to generate significant employment opportunities while continuing to strengthen the local film industry.

Culture Minister Owen Bonnici highlighted the importance of the cash rebate programme in drawing international projects to Malta and creating economic growth.

Meanwhile, Film Commissioner Johann Grech said productions of this scale help enhance the skills of Maltese crews, boost international visibility, and contribute to building a sustainable film industry for the future.
