The 90 Day Rule: There's Still Time To Change Your Year

The 90 Day Rule: There's Still Time To Change Your Year
International

We’re officially in the final stretch of 2026, but if you’ve already written the year off, you might want to reconsider. Enter the 90-Day Rule: the simple idea that roughly three months is enough time to make meaningful progress towards something you’ve been putting off all year.

(Think of it as the opposite of waiting for January.)

Instead of telling yourself you’ll start exercising, save money, work on that idea, learn something new or finally fix your sleep schedule “next year”, the concept encourages you to use the final months of this one.

And 90 days is longer than it sounds.

That’s around 13 weeks. Enough time to complete dozens of workouts, build a new routine, make progress on a side project, read several books or simply become more consistent with something that matters to you. The idea also fits into what psychologists call the fresh start effect: moments that feel like new beginnings can help separate us from our past behaviour and give us extra motivation to pursue our goals.

But there’s an important catch.

You probably won’t completely transform your life in 90 days — and you don’t need to.

The point is to ask yourself one simple question: If you started today, where could you be by 1st January?

Because there are still almost three months left in 2026.

That’s plenty of time to make them count.
