Thai Boxing Club Offers Malta Police Free Training After Valletta Assault

Malta Thai Boxing coach Shaun McAlister shared a video offering free training for members of the Malta Police Force after a video went viral showing three officers being assaulted by an individual resisting arrest.

‘After seeing the recent videos from Valletta and the amount of criticism being thrown at the police online, I don't think adding another comment to the pile achieves much’, said McAlister.

‘It's easy to sit behind a screen and tell someone how they should have handled a violent situation. I'd rather offer something useful.’

The offer runs from October 1st to December 31st 2026, with the officers, from the Police to the Rapid Intervention Unit, Correctional Services Agency and Detention Services Agency being eligible.

‘If you're expected to deal with violence, difficult situations and unpredictable people as part of your job, you're more than welcome to come train with us. Whether you want to improve your striking, movement, fitness or simply become more comfortable in a combat sports environment, our doors are open.’

The offer, he said, ‘applies to group classes only and does not include private 1 to 1 sessions, seminars or other paid events. You will need to provide valid identification confirming that you currently serve with one of the organisations above.’
