Temperatures To Climb to 29°C By Sunday

After a spell of unsettled weather, Malta is set to experience a brief return to sunshine and warmth this weekend, marking the arrival of the traditional sajf ta’ San Martin, or St Martin’s summer.
The Meteorological Office is forecasting a notable rise in temperatures, with highs expected to reach 29°C by Sunday.
The change is due to a high-pressure system building over the Mediterranean, bringing stable conditions, light winds and clear skies. This type of weather, typically seen in mid-November, is a well-known local phenomenon that offers a short break from autumn’s cooler, wetter days.
Between Friday and Sunday, temperatures are expected to climb by about five degrees, rising from the mid-20s to around 29°C, which is four degrees above the monthly average.
Winds will shift from a moderate northwesterly on Friday to a gentle south-southwesterly breeze by Sunday.
However, the summer-like conditions will be short-lived. By Monday, northwesterly winds are forecast to strengthen again, bringing a drop in temperature to around 22°C by Tuesday.
Despite last weekend’s rain, October’s total rainfall remains slightly below the monthly average, with 71 mm recorded so far out of a quota of 77.8 mm.
