Swimming At Birżebbuġa’s Dawret Il-Qalb Mqaddsa Not Recommended Due To Sewage

The Environmental Health Directorate within the Superintendence of Public Health issued a statement advising against bathing at Dawret il-Qalb Imqaddsa, Birżebbuġa, due to a sewage pouring into the sea.
The sewage may affect the bathing water quality and might pose risks to bathers’ health.
‘Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) have identified the source of contamination which is coming from private residences in Triq it-Tankijiet, Birżebbuġa.’
‘An abatement notice was issued, and legal action has been initiated against the owner. At this stage, the duration of the contamination cannot be predicted.’
