SWIEQI RESIDENT REPORTS WEEKEND VANDALISM CAUSING DAMAGE TO SEVERAL CARS

Footage and information sent over to Malta Daily by a Swieqi resident has highlighted a worrying case of vandalism which allegedly took place in the locality over the weekend, leaving multiple vehicles damaged.

According to the resident, their car was among several targeted between Saturday and Sunday, with reports of tyres being punctured and cars being scratched with keys in different parts of the area.

The resident shared CCTV footage in the hope that it can help identify those responsible for the damage.

Speaking to Malta Daily, the resident described the emotional and financial impact such incidents can have on families who work hard to build a stable life.

“It is very disappointing to see how the kind of tourism Malta is receiving can end up affecting a family financially and emotionally. Not everyone is born into privilege. Many of us work extremely hard for every single thing we have, for a home, for a car, and for a good education for our children. We work long days, sometimes extra hours, just to build a stable life little by little.”

The resident added that it is heartbreaking to see that effort damaged in just a matter of minutes by the reckless actions of others.

“Malta is not the country where I was born, but it has given me some of the most beautiful things in my life, and I truly feel it as home. That is why situations like this hurt even more. It is very sad to feel that the peace and happiness you build with so much effort can be taken away.”
