Student Stipends To Increase In Line With Cost Of Living

Student stipends will increase in line with the cost of living as part of Budget 2027, Minister for Education and Sport Byron Camilleri has confirmed.

Taking to social media, the Minister reflected on his own experience as a student, acknowledging the importance of stipends and the financial challenges faced by young people pursuing their education.

Camilleri explained that the government remains conscious of these challenges, confirming that stipends will increase by the equivalent of the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA).

The Minister also announced that new stipends will be introduced during 2027 for students pursuing maritime studies and those training to obtain a pilot's licence.

Further details regarding these new stipend measures are expected to be announced in due course.

The latest adjustments follow a 15% increase in student stipends introduced earlier in 2026, as the government continues to revise financial assistance available to students pursuing further education and specialised qualifications.
