Stampy Turns Exploring Malta and Gozo Into A Game
Local

A new Maltese game is encouraging people to get outdoors, explore the islands and compete for prizes, one stamp at a time.

What if your next walk around Malta or Gozo could earn you points, unlock badges and put you on a leaderboard?

That is the idea behind Stampy, a free game designed to turn everyday walks into an interactive adventure, encouraging players to discover places across the islands while competing for monthly prizes.

Available on Android and iOS, the game can also be played online through (https://stampy.mt).

The concept is simple: Malta and Gozo have been divided into thousands of small tiles on an interactive map. To claim a tile, players must physically visit the location, verify their position through the app and tap the Stamp button.

In other words, you cannot play from your sofa. You have to get out and explore.

Whether it is a coastal walk, a quiet village street or a corner of Malta you have never visited before, Stampy gives players an extra reason to take a different route and discover more of the islands.

And there is a competitive element, too.

The first player to stamp a particular tile each month earns two points, while anyone who stamps it afterwards receives one point. This means that even if someone has already visited an area, the tile remains available for others to claim.

The points contribute towards a monthly leaderboard, with prizes up for grabs for the players who collect the most stamps.

Every month brings a fresh start. At the beginning of each calendar month, scores reset and all tiles become available again, giving both new players and regular explorers another opportunity to climb the rankings.

Players can also unlock badges as they reach different milestones, adding another challenge to the experience.

Built in Malta for both locals and visitors, Stampy combines physical activity, exploration and friendly competition in a game that does not require an elaborate plan. A lunchtime stroll, an evening walk or a weekend trip to another village could all become part of the adventure.

Players are reminded to explore responsibly, respect private property and restricted areas, and never use the game while driving. Any tile that cannot be reached safely and legally should be left unstamped.
