St Venera Girl Guides Volunteer In Albania

A group of young leaders from the St Venera Girl Guides travelled to Albania last September for a week-long humanitarian experience. The girls were accompanied by Fr Luke Cutajar, the Malta Girl Guides’ spiritual director.
The sentiment of their trip was grounded in the following quote by mother Teresa; “Greatness is not always found in grand gestures, but in small actions carried out with great love.”The initiative combined voluntary service, cultural exchange, and spiritual growth. Working alongside the Sisters of Mother Teresa, the young leaders assisted some of Albania’s most vulnerable communities, offering practical support and companionship.
The Sisters’ humble dedication and compassion left a profound impact on the group, reinforcing the belief that even the smallest acts of kindness can bring meaningful change.
A particularly moving moment came during visits to local families facing difficult living conditions. Despite their hardships, the families’ resilience, warmth, and faith deeply touched the visitors, reminding them of the importance of gratitude and empathy.
Beyond their voluntary work, the Girl Guides engaged with local youth, experienced traditional Albanian hospitality, and explored the country’s natural beauty, from the Blue Eye spring to Theth National Park.
Returning to Malta, the St Venera Girl Guides carried with them renewed purpose and commitment to their guiding promise: to serve others with love, unity, and faith — a testament to how small actions can create lasting impact.
