The St. Philip Band Club AD 1851, known as Banda San Filep in Ħaż-Żebbuġ, has recently benefited from funding through the NGO Co-Financing Fund, which supports voluntary organisations in co-financing projects backed by European funds.

The club used European LEADER funds to restore the historic façade of its clubhouse in the heart of Ħaż-Żebbuġ, ensuring the architectural integrity and aesthetic appeal of the building are preserved.

The inauguration was attended by Julia Farrugia and Mauro Pace Parascandalo. During the visit, it was noted that the NGO Co-Financing Fund provides vital opportunities for organisations to invest in quality projects while reinforcing their role as key pillars of society.

These investments contribute not only to preserving Malta’s historical and cultural heritage but also to creating more attractive and functional spaces for local communities.

In her speech, Minister Julia Farrugia stated, “This investment is a clear example of how the Government continues to provide concrete support to the voluntary sector, which plays an essential role in the social and cultural life of our country. Banda San Filep is not only part of our cultural heritage but also a community hub that brings people together.”

She added, “Through the NGO Co-Financing Fund, we continue to strengthen the capacity of voluntary organisations to carry out quality projects that have a positive and sustainable impact on our localities. This project in Ħaż-Żebbuġ demonstrates how these funds were crucial in protecting and enhancing our historical and cultural identity, bringing the project to life.”

CEO Mauro Pace Parascandalo commented, “It is a pleasure to see organisations making full use of both European and local funds to enhance the quality of what they offer to the communities in which they operate.”

In addition to the NGO Co-Financing Fund, Banda San Filep has also benefited from the Voluntary Organisations Project Scheme, the Small Initiatives Support Scheme, and the More Inclusive Communities programme, further supporting its ongoing contributions to the community.
