St Helen’s Band Club To Mark 10th International Tour In Sardinia

The St Helen’s Band Club of Birkirkara will mark its 10th international musical tour this September with a visit to Quartu Sant’Elena in Sardinia, where it will take part in the local community’s celebrations for the feast of Saint Helena, the patron saint shared by both communities.

Between 10 and 15 September, more than 180 people from Malta, including musicians, members, families and supporters of the band club, will travel to Sardinia for a celebration combining faith, music and tradition.

During its visit, the St Helen’s Band will provide four musical services, presenting a varied programme of vocal and instrumental pieces alongside traditional marches that will accompany the festivities and bring the streets of Quartu Sant’Elena to life.

A special part of the programme will be the celebration of a Mass in Maltese with the participation of the band, organised specifically for the Maltese visitors. The event will allow the contingent to celebrate their faith while strengthening the friendship and cultural links between the two communities.

The highlight of the band’s participation will be its musical accompaniment of the solemn procession carrying the statue of Saint Helena. The occasion will unite the religious devotion and musical traditions of Malta and Sardinia in a shared celebration dedicated to their common patron saint.

The visit continues the St Helen’s Band Club’s longstanding commitment to promoting Maltese musical heritage, festa traditions and cultural identity beyond the islands’ shores.

The 10th international tour represents more than a musical engagement. It reflects the close cultural and spiritual ties between Malta and Sardinia, bringing together two communities connected by their devotion to Saint Helena.
